    Angry V70 P2 (2003) sunroof jammed open!!

    AAAAAARRRGGHHHH!!!!!

First day of sun here in the cuds of Wales, so I decided to open the sunroof. Began to drive and found that I couldn't close the thing.

I've checked the fuse and thats ok...phoned the dealer who said "Call the AA". What can I do?
I thought that there would be a manual over -ride under the headlining which I could use to wind the roof back into its closed position, but no luck. Has this happened to anyone else?
    What can I do?
Luckily I live in the middle of nowhere and vehicle security is the least of my worries, but the weather is a worry (no garage). It's not going to rain for a few days, but I really need to shut the roof ASAFP to protect the interior.
The car will look a bit pants with a bin bag taped to the roof.

    Come on experts...earn your stripes.

    Look at the roof lights!

The Middle of the light panel has a vauge A shape with the legs round the mirror plate.

This panel Hinges down towards you, the winder is in here!

I have no sunroof, so I cannot comment on the style of the bolt/pin required.

So there IS a manual winder???
Thanks Badger...I'm off to rip the panel off in a minute. Think I might take some photos for reference as there's nothing in the @haynes' manual about this topic.

Well, I've just taken the access panel off...there doesn't appear to be any way to manually wind the sunroof closed!!
There are only 2 x torx screws, which hold the motor in place.
I've taken photos, but can't access them to download as my camera has just died.

    HELP

Have you tried taking the motor off to see if you can manually turn the mechanism?

There should* be a hole (about 1/4 inch size) just in front of the black plastic cowl of the mirror securing plate.

If you are looking at torx screws then you must be in the wrong area.

I'll nip out & take a piccy. Like I said I don't have a sunroof, but there's a hinged panel, a hole & nothing in it. Suggests it's for something not in my roof!

    some piccys...

    Attachment 8580
    The A panel I mentioned
    Attachment 8581
The Mirror needs to be pushed back to allow it to hinge like this...

The hole is slightly oval & almost in the centre of the picture.

    Here's the photos of mine.

The main difference between the mine and yours Badger is the fitment of the sunroof switch. The oval hole appears to be a mounting hole for the switch as I've looked / felt behind and there is nothing there to wind.

I've taken the entire panel off to expose everything - what to do????

There are 4 x torx screws in total and these all seem to be holding the motor in place. There's very little space there and I can't get the motor out as the headlining is in the way and I'm getting frustrated (whihc is when things get broken!)

    Any ideas?????

By the way Badger...how do you attach pictures the way you do? Thumbnails are a bit too small to see details.

You need to host them on another site first like 'Photobucket' or similar, then just paste and copy the link of the pic from their site.

Is there a relay for your sunroof?, when you press the switch do you hear any noise?, try pulling the switch and seeing if it's still connected properly.

sunroof is controlled by UEM I dont have wiring diagram, but may be worth in first instant resetting module

    http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/342-res...958&#entry1958

if that fails you may be able to find wiring diagram and see if you can manually supply power to motor (or if power is getting to motor) assuming motor hasn't failed

There is a calibration procedure for the sunroof. Might be worth trying pressing the button for more than 5 seconds.

Cheers Bomb...but the sun roof is jammed open and what you've posted says it must be closed.
I'll have a go anyway (doing it in reverse!)

My direct guess is that the winder is below the switch.

It looks to me as though the switch should pop off. Logical when you think on it, doesn't work, pull it out of the panel, find the winder to do it manually.

The hole for the winder should be under the switch, it looks like it has simple catches.
