shall i add you to the list then Russ? I wouldn't of thought it will affect anything on the gearbox as its only adjusting the pivot point on the gear selector/cables

it shouldnt affect the synchro should it..it just alters the movement at the gear stick end,the linkage is still moveing the same amount on the gearbox

I Might be wrong but have always thought the short shifter kits are a good idea but surely your just trying to beat the syncro as you can change gear that much quicker.

    Russ
i thought it just reduced the movement of the stick,it wont make any difrence in gear change speed, but purely the distance between the gear stick travel..........

I can't open the link - just goes to a holding page. How tricky is this kit to fit? Would certainly appeal to my restrained (ha ha) driving style.

heres some info on it its With any short shift kit it can be assumed that the time interval for all of the required "gear braking" CAN be reduced since the gears are closer together. If you select gears at the same speed as when your car had a stock shift linkage then there is no difference and your syncronizers have plenty of time to do their job. Basically what I'm saying here is that the faster you change gears even with a stock shift linkage the greater the chance for gear grinding. And so if you speed shift your gears with your new short shift kit then you run a greater chance of getting gear grind. It's that simple. It doesn't matter whose kit you are using, either. If you overwhelm the syncronizer's ability to do it's job then you will eventually get gear grinding and you will also overheat and destroy your syncronizer for the particular gear that is grinding. The only recourse in this case is to replace the brass syncronizer ring inside the transmission which is somewhat expensive. And if you grind gears for too long you might break a tooth off of one of your gears and this floating tooth is not very good for the guts of your transmission

As it states ive all ready damaged the syscro in 2nd and yes the shif kit will make it worse for me, i did this by changing from 1st to 2nd really fast causing the gears to crash so imho this can happen with the stanadard set up if your not racing the gears all the time i cannot see a problem.
At the end of the day its like tuning, a candle that burns brighter will not last as long unless the candle has been made thicker.
E.g forged rods and pistons etc.

    hope this helps pete

    Phil

Ive fitted one on my car , took me about an hour , just need to move the airbox out of the way . You'll need a good HSS bit, ( well maybe 2 one for a pilot hole and the correct size one ) a few sockets and spanners. Everything else is straight forward ;-)

A worthwhile mod in my opinion :-)

    Unhappy

Pedro, just a point, When I bought my powder coat kit from the USA I had to pay VAT on it before the Post Office would let me have it. Won't this apply to these kits too?
