some night pics
i don't normally have my fogs on, but put them on to show how much whiter they are than Halogen
i've also ordered some LED sidelights LINK
just an update, had them on all day today (2 x20minute) to work & back & no bulb failure warning at all. Hopefully my LED sidelights will turn up tomorrow which i suspect will throw a light
can't believe how much better the HID's are, had them on the normal height setting & no trouble blinding anyone either
I'm thinking of maybe doing the same but I'm put off by a few things
1 - my s60 always seems to blow its bulbs and have a bulb out. This can range from main beam to sidelight to rear cluster lights. Im thinking it could be a wiring problem or just bad luck. Would I get similar problems if fitting the HID kit?
2 - Do you have to remove the HID kit and revert back to standard lights for an MOT test?
3 - Am I likely to be pulled over by the police for having the HID kit?
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm not happy with the poor distance the standard lights get on a dark unlit road at night.
tbh i'm not sure how strong or carefull you have to be with HID bulbs, i wasn't exactly carefull when i fitted them & i've still got bits of glass rolling round in the reflector housing & all been OK so far. Except for the passenger headlight the bulb chasing seems to have stopped
from what i understand the MOT won't be a problem as the light pattern is still the same2 - Do you have to remove the HID kit and revert back to standard lights for an MOT test?
i followed a cop for about a mile this morning & he didn't stop me, i've had people comment on the colour of the light but they've all said there not getting blinded by them3 - Am I likely to be pulled over by the police for having the HID kit?

The S60s and V70s can suffer from brittle plastic on the bulb connectors from the heat.
Min occasionally has a bulb warning on the dash. Turning the lights off and on or thumping the light often fixes it.
Make sure it is not this before you change the bulbs.

I don't think the side lights a monitored thus won't throw a warning light.

Yes I seem to have realised this is the case most of the time. But the problem is the 'tapping'/'hitting' gets the light working again until it starts becoming more frequent and then the bulb filament blows.
Keep us updated fandango, would like to know how these work out on a daily basis and in the long run.
Oh and whats this about having to drill a hole to stop the warning light coming on? Any guides/pics to follow if doing this?
Thanks!
I have them in mine (LED sidelights) and don't get any warnings in the info center...

didn't think they would make it but they turned up today, weirdest bulb's i've seen yet
not exactly bright, but they do the job
another pic of the HID's (just because i want to lol)

You can get LED lamps for the fogs.... Google it or
look on eBay.

hey fandango, could I ask which bulb type power & temp you chose when ordering your HID kit from this guy?
http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/HID-Xe...__W0QQ_armrsZ1
Also, if the bulbs fail or blow over time would you order more directly from him or are they available elsewher/from a shop?
Thanks
i ordered H7 6000k LINK
i'd order a new kit if a bulb or anything went wrong, can't moan for £33 & you'd have spares as well then
just a wee note , mines just passed its MOT , before Xmas with the HIDS fittted no problems

Just about to get a set of parking sidelight LEDs and was wondering if it might be better to go for the 9 LED light rather than the 5 LED?
I want to get the right balance and keep them as sidelights and my worry is the 5 LED may be a little dim and the 9 LED a little bright. Fandango, are your 5 LED sidelights 'just right' for the amount of light omitted?
Also, Would these fog light LEDs be OK to replace the standard ones? Or will a warning light come up in the dash?
Can you access the fog lights without taking off the bumper?
your comments/worries are about right i'm afraid. The's are a bit dull, but doubling the amount will put them into the DRL's area. 5's are ok at night but can't even notice them during the day
Personally i don't like the idea of having LED foglights, i don't think LED's will have the beam length for them to be any use for there purpose, they'll look lovely on your Saxo driving around town but no good when the mist comes in. As for changing the bulbs tbh i don't know, i'd of thought you must be able to replace them either from underneath or by pulling the arch lining out insteadAlso, Would these fog light LEDs be OK to replace the standard ones? I guess its because the LEDs are white light and the light is less noticable during daylight than the standard 'yellow' bulbs.
So are you keeping your fog lights standard? Just thought matching the white light would look nice but you are right, they wont be serving their purpose if changed to LED.
Still not sure about the 5 LED or 9 LED...I guess the best way would be to order both and see which ones work best.
