What do you mean by removing shims from the a/c compressor also the compressor will shut of when theres no gas in the system
Re-gassed last year and pressure tested mate. Read some info on here sometime last year that said if the air-gap in the clutch is too wide,it'll cause fast-cycling or cutting out altogether,hence the shim theory. When mine is up to temp and cuts out,slight pressure from a long screwdriver will kick it back in again. Just wonderin as I'm too lazy to do it meself!!

check the pressure regulator, switch in the a/c pipe.
if the pressure switch is faulty then the a/c wont know what to do,it will click in & out wen it feels like it
Or just switch off the telly and get my hands dirty. Mostly the 850 is mechanically friendly but that area of the car is a pain in the neck. Was ok earlier and hasn't been used much in the last year. Maybe I'll be lucky and it'll settle down with use.....
