I had the same prob when i rebuilt my R top end. Thought id got something wrong & tried all kind of things to get it going but the last thing i tried was the spare key....yep it started first turn...Doh!! Seems the key can loose its code if not used for a while, worth a try pal.

Hi mate . Try the ignition relay and it's wiring. it's the grey one under the plastic fan cowling just behind the rad when you open the bonnet. If this or it's wiring is dodgy the car will crank all day and never fire. It's also easy to disturb doing under bonnet work so well worth a look.
If you need pics or a simple wiring diagram pm me.

    ,.,

ignition module..screwed against the nsf inner wing, under bonnet, behind the headlight...that powers the coil & triggers the spark.....

    Hope this helps.
This is the relay and connections. Excuse the drawing skills!
The connection diagram is supposed to be looking at the female sockets on the connector with the relay removed.
Don,t worry about the two in red just try a wire junper across the other two.
Sorry the colours aren't correct, do have a colour correct pic somewhere, just can't find it!
