Toyo Proxes are around £72 each, i paid £82 for Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2, for the sake of a tenner extra id go for a branded tyre if you can.
Bear in mind, sometimes your better paying a wee bit more for the tyres, as they'll last longer, works out cheaper.
I thought Proxes were ok grip wise, but to be honest they just fall apart under any stress. Tyres are one thing you really shouldnt skimp on, though shopping around should always get you a good deal. I managed to get 2 semi slicks inc fitting and balancing for £160, though to be fair the road tyres cost about the same.
I reccomend Uniroyal Rainsports, grippy in the dry, outstanding in the wet, and best of all, they last, did 2 hours round knockhill on them with very little notable wear, and they obviously get nowhere near that kind of treatment on the road. Again, thse are only around the £70-£80 mark, but thats for 15's, so I would expect a bit more for 17's.

EDIT - On mytyres.net the rainsports are £85 each in your size, about £6 more than Proxes T1-R. Personally I would pay the extra £30 and get a tyre that I knew was good, but then you'd have to trust my rating of the tyre. Never seen them on a heavier car to make comment, but a lot of my mates use them as well on tuned P1's, GTi-R's etc all pushing out well over 300bhp, so they cant be that bad. Plus, if you look around locally you may get them cheaper, they dont cost as much as that at local places here, but obviously thats no use to you lol.

All fast cars long gone. Sensible family BMW 3 series now.
Still Volvo links though as my wife has a V50 R design sport and a mildly fettled T4
Vredestein Ultracs - Over 10K and still going strong - £90 a corner. Excellent in all conditions.

Shoot me down !!! sorry but I'm sticking with me P Zero's they might be a bit soft and do cost a bit more ! (okay yes a whole lot more ) but they do bring smiles to me face time and again
I did have Michelin pilot sport 205/45/17 but replaced them with P Zero's very expensive but drives well.

Go 4 continentals, 205's are not the broadest tyres by far....so go 4 grip
has anyone tried yokohama's,i had a set on an old escort van with xr2 lump and they were really good but this is a light van compared to an 850

Had to buy 2 new back tyres - ended up with Pirelli P6000 for £105 each incl VAt, fitting and balancing....bearing in mind mine are 225/45 17's, I thought that was pretty resonable.
ATS wanted £170 a tyre....
Really wierd though, the outer edge only has worn. Had it re-tracked but can they adjust the toe in/out of the back tyres? Does it indicate suspension probs ??

V8 yes they do adjust on all four corners, That's a lot of money for a P6000, You could've got Potenza's or Eagles for that price,

I had those Conti Contact Sports on my 18" Nebula's they don't tend to last too long think i got 4k out of them probably get 6k max, They are really grippy too.Originally Posted by Mrsmopp

I have conti's the last 3 pairs on my old girl. The last set lasted 10k with still about 4mm of tread but I'd had a puncture repaired which buggered the tyre wall so I had to get shot unfortunately. These tyres work really well for me and seem to suit my driving style I was just surprised no one else ever recommended them.....

Cos they are £160 each new, thats why, dont ask where i get them from for ya

Some people on here have said "Our cars don't like the Pirelli's" I know there are many types of Pirelli's,I found the Goodyear Eagles to be one of the best tyres.Even the Police use them,So that says something about them.Originally Posted by V8guitar
