    Return of the ETS light...........

I had the throttle body replaced about 3 weeks ago due to ETS light coming on frequently and engine idling irracticly. Every thing has been fine till this evening. I was driving with Winter mode engaged, then decided to switch it off and immediatley planted my foot down. I was approaching a set of red traffic lights to which i slowed down and prepared to stop. As i came to a standstill the dreaded ETS light came on and the engine was idling very low (low enough to cause a shake inside). I noticed one horrible ponging burning smell inside the car (imagine a sewage works on fire!) It was so bad i had to open the windows. I pulled up to one side, switched off the engine and restarted. The ETS light didnt come back on, engine was idling normally. I continued my journey home. I've driven about 20 miles since then and no problems. Any ideas why this happened?
