I remember Arthur, an (cremation) engineer I used to work with who swore that running a car hard during the breakin period made the car faster overall. Seems that this site has just agreed with him, 20 years later mind you

nice link m8, i totally agree, i had 2 new bikes, and did'nt really run them in, as long as the engine is fully warmed up properly, i cant see it being a problem. i'm sure the police did'nt run my t5 in properly...lol
Good mate of mine had a diesel Seat (not his choice), and hated the thing sooo much he thrashed it to within an inch of it's life from day 1 - only to discover that he'd created the quickest diesel Seat the Group had ever had!
Not sure what good it did to it's longevity as he only kept it a year...
