Question 850 ABS light stays on,poss Key/Barrel worn?

[B]Help I have a problem with my 850,somtimes when turning my engine on the ABS light stays on & no electics work,If you turn the key a fraction back the abs light goes out & eletrics are then ok,I did squrt some wd40 in & around the barrel & seemed to solve the problem for a couple of months, its just starting to do it again & spraying wd40 is a short term solution & I really need to sort it out, I think the barral or the key is worn but which one,I only ever had one key with the car so is it possable keys can wear out?,has anyone else had this problem as a replacment key can be pricey from a volvo dealer & been told there lazer cut !

A very common fault on 850s, I just put up with turning it back a notch, my local indepedent said not to bother as new keys would be required.

You just need to replace the switch at the back of the ignition, you wont need new keys as its not the barrell your replacing. Go to a breakers for the part, should only cost you about £20...

    Good luck

Tomcat is right. This is caused by dirty contacts on the switch. spaying wd40 into the barrel wont do jack other than lubricate the barrel.
    NT though!!!
