    Dump Valves?

    Just a couple of questions:

    1) What is the benefit?

    2) Is it noticeable?

    3) Can you get mild sounding ones?

    4) Are they easy to fit?

    5) How much do they cost?

This subject has been covered at length so you might want to do a search for some of the previous threads. The T5 already has a DV albeit a recirculating one and so there will be no performance benefit (possibly a loss in actual fact)

You may need one if you boost over 18-19psi,mine on a 16t struggles to dump enough air if i short shift at 5000rpm i can hear a tiny amount of compressor stall. The only advantage i can see of installing one is the noise and the fact that it can take more abuse than the std unit.If you car is just chipped etc i would save you money.

And watch your engine and turbo try to dismantle each other

Basically a turbo made out of various parts, like bigger housing with small internals or regular turbo with different manifold etc

£5 on this degenerating into a VOC argument...

    Thanks!

I always thought that the turbo makers would build it the most efficient way to start with, but I suppose in this day and age accountants over-rule engineers

Most importantly though is the power gain and the rather interesting sound

For the love of god please fit a dump valve, wether its a re-circ or atmos, you will be damaging your turbo otherwise!

And I can guarantee you the week after the warranty ends you will have an expensive bill which you could have avoided if you only fitted a dump valve.

Hmmm...why would i want to fit a dump valve when the supplier of the Turbo states that one is not required?
