What reg was it? If it's pre 2005 then it's a 130 bhp detuned version of the D5.

If it's 2005-2006, it could be the Euro IV 163 bhp detuned D5.

    Even more confused?

    Have a look here -

    Crikey!!! Confusion reigns!

It was brand spanking new with the new silver posh bits (stuck on tat) on the rear bumper.

If I end up buying a D5 I'll call you before I do lol Who knows what I'd end up in.

    Thanks Adam

Thing is, I think Volvo Cars UK only imports the 185 bhp D5 and the old Euro III D5 (which I think it might be called the 2.4D), so who knows!!!

Last year Volvo updated the D5 and gave it more power as said above, but you can buy the old version still and it has been rebranded as the 2.4D.

I know. The problem is that you can get the Euro IV 2.4D on the continent which is also 163 bhp, but it's a detuned 185 engine and not the old D5.

So, this means that if you see a 2.4D it could be one of three engines -

Euro III 2.4D 130 bhp (Imported)
    Euro III D5 163 bhp rebranded as a 2.4D
Euro IV 2.4D 163 bhp using the same engine as the 185 bhp D5 (Imported)

on 2006 my an old d5 is now a 2.4d being the 163bhp euro iii engine.
d5 is the new 180bhp euro iv, and you can also get the old d5 but euro iv

im not the only one confused...........

the key is the engine numbers- 79 old d5 163 euro iii, 69 old d5 euro iv
71 new d5 180 bhp and euro iv.

now that's confusing!!! and a nightmare for service schedules.
    now : 850 2.5 auto

Ex : T4 with NOS on board
