I used the Yoko A048's same as what the exige has as standard on the black C70, they were fully road legal and almost unstickable in the dry, cant remember the price though, probably be looking at about £150 a tyre.

They dont need to be road legal, I have found semi's for just over a tonne a boot just on the hunt to see if thats the best price.

Moppy, buy yourself a copy of the Motoring news, comes out everyweek ona wensday(I think). Its a motorsports newspaper, look in the back of that and there are advertisements for motorsports tyre dealers/spares etc.....Quite a few of these places will sell you either new or part worn ones if thats what your after. Dont go for too soft a compound as if your using them for drag racing you may bog down on the line if you have too much grip.

    Mop,

What size do you want ?
What compound do you want ?
What discipline are you going to be competing in ?
What car are you going to use ?
What is your est. power output ?
    What is your budget ?

Your answers to these will have a huge bearing on which slick you need to use. To give you an idea an ex WTC BMW ,Michelin Slick on a Volvo at Santa Plod in April will be entertaining for all spectators (and 'cloth touching' for the driver)! And conversly a Hoosier drag tyre at the Old Hairpin at Donnington Park in August will be able to rival Wobbly Dave's performance on his last set of new front tyres !

    Regards,
    Hamish.

    Mop,

You should have said ! .....You need a 16" super sticky tyre to run on a battered old T5 at Santa Pod in the Summer, preferably so cheap they're free........in which case I'll see if Hoosier Tire have got any old T (test) tyres kicking around ! Failing that, Spesh's bald NanKang-aroos sound about right !

Rally /drag strip events like the one we were at today was a company there called just slicks, so maybe try the rallying sites etc. My mate does rallying and track days, he gets his worn tyres IIRC from a tyre place for free for advertising them on his car.

If someone finds a cheap dealer for 16" slicks I maybe interested too. I've been quoted upto £250 each cos 16" ain't popular as race tyres (single seaters upto 15". Subarus etc 17").
I had been searching Ebay for months before I was put off by the possible sudden explosion of a gearbox.......but now that mine has already gone I'm gonna start playing......

Looks like I can't help ! We don't do bent rods, I emptied the bins before Christmas so that's all the Bosch Spark Plugs gone, and I'm sure the last Bailey Dump Valve I took off has already sold on ebay. Oh well you can't win em all.

    Never Mind,
    Hamish.

    Judge,
Have a look at www.hoosiertire.com ! You can get a PAIR of new 16" for $380 (£200). They have a UK agent, who sponsors us !

    Hamish.
