    Your answers to these will have a huge bearing on which slick you need to use. To give you an idea an ex WTC BMW ,Michelin Slick on a Volvo at Santa Plod in April will be entertaining for all spectators (and 'cloth touching' for the driver)! And conversly a Hoosier drag tyre at the Old Hairpin at Donnington Park in August will be able to rival Wobbly Dave's performance on his last set of new front tyres !

    Hamish what are u talking about ? She can't even reverse park, come on!

    dearer ones have a higher sidewall so will squish more once you run them at low presure like you are meant to for drga racing, reduces tyre hop.

    If its for track, the cheaper ones, shorter stiffer sidewall is better for cornering.

    Still Volvo links though as my wife has a V50 R design sport and a mildly fettled T4

    looking at all the the slick tyre websites I've noticed that Slick measurements are different. Does anybody know the measurements work...?

    It's something like diameter x width on most of 'em

    Judge this might help.

    Slick 215/625R17 = 215/45R17

    215 = width of tyre.
    625 = diameter of tyre.
    R = radial.
    17 = 17 inch rim.

    17 inches = 431.8mm

    625 – 431.8 = 193.2mm

    Aspect Ratio is 193.2 divided by 2 = 96.6mm

    96.6 divided by 215 X 100 = 45% AR.

    So with a bit of playing I need - 205/610/16 (205/611.4/16)...
    (Currently use - 205/50/16)

    So I suppose anything close would do...wouldn't it...?

    guys- i have found out everybody in sweden uses mickey thompson's
    apparently best with uprated clutch for over 350bhp.
    but no problems with standard transmission reliability

    example i know of-

    s40 1998 420bhp (autotech) uprated clutch only on m/t's 11.5 1/4 !!!!!!!

    i think the slicks are sold in imperial (inches) measurements by the way

    Last year i ran toyo r888's and now i have some dunlops to try out.
    road legal so i can drive to/from if i want.
    get much better grip off the line, but only after they are fully up to running tempreture
