    Alternative Stereo?

Right the boot mounted disc changer in the 854 has packed up.

What can I do. The stereo sounds ace, just can't play cd's.

Do I replace it with a compete aftermarket stereo?

Try an find another boot changer?

Can you get facias for the dash? Or lead adaptors to use all 8 speakers?

    Anyone any ideas????

You should be able to get the adapter lead to use a normal stereo without any problems and the fascia adapters are quite common but look before you buy because some are a bit nasty looking.Or you could do what i did and fit two head units or its possible someone on here is selling one.The other choice would be to give Salvo a ring and see if they have any at the moment

    sterio

    hi
the choice is yours which way you want to go with it,
you can buy replacement facia for a normal size sterio (din size )
or you mite find an original cd changer from ebay from someone on here,
or you could take the faulty changer to a radio shop to repair it & yes you can buy the lead to fit volvo loom to convert it to iso connection
the lead can also be purchased from the radio shop,it will give you all speakers working, iso is a standard fitting now available with most modern cars now,i hope this helps

Or you can go the iPod route - quite cost-effective if you've already got one.

I heard from somewhere that the changers are Alpine equipment. If this is so you should be able to replace it with another Alpine unit.

if you replace with an Alpine changer, you still have to buy the interface kit. I was in the same dilema when i bought my car, someone plank nicked the changer before i bought it.

Worked out cheaper to buy a changer off e-bay than to get the Alpine one and the interface.

I've got a Volvo SC 805 which is double din (or big in other words) which has tuner, cd & tape player up for grabs! I've just bought an aftermarket HU which I can plug my ipod into.
The advert is in erm....the adverts section!

Alot of folks here in the US tend towards aftermarket replacements for the radio. It's usually not a big deal to get a wiring harness that will allow you to use all the stock speakers with a new HU. I think it's mostly a matter of personal preference.
