Mapping and Decat Volvo Xc70 , Help!!

    Hello everybody.
As in my presentating thread i said that i own a 2005 Volvo xc70, m66 manual transmission, 163 hp d5244t engine.
It has round 300.000 miles on it
i've been doing some upgrades to my car, and i was reading a little bit to remap it and decat.
    My questions are :
Do i need to change turbo and clutch to take advantage of full remap power , and not to damage the car if i dont change them ?
DOes it make damage to the engine this high mileage to remap it ?
What numbers in power and torque can i achieve ?
    Cheers

    Welcome
I don’t think you need to change turbo and clutch unless they are worn.
I don’t think it will damage the engine even if you remap it with high mileage.
A safe remap will take you to 185hp which is the D5 power. If you want 200 or 210ho then you may be stressing the components beyond the limits they were designed for. I have a remap on my 163hp XC and I only took it to 185 to prevent any damage to the Automatic transmission. You have a manual so could push a bit more.

Remap the EGR solenoid closed and fit an EGR blanking plate if you want it to run nicer, and clean out all the hunk from throttle intake pipe up into inlet manifold to the injectors.
Clean and lubricate the governer or TCV and take it from there. That worked nice for me and my car is driving better than new now.

Can you feel the difference of that extra hp and torque ?

Yes. However like most upgrades you’ll get used to it fairly quickly and it’ll become the norm and you’ll go searching for more!
