Help please V70 R AWD Fuel tank, pumps, lines etc

Hello anyone who knows about these things.

I have a 1997 V70R AWD, much loved and cherished, 250k miles, well looked after. Yes spent a small fortune over the years but love it to bits. However, reached an impasse!

Failed MOT 2 months ago with fuel leak, garage took rear suspension off, dropped tank, we have replaced, fuel lines, rear suspension bushings, re welded odd whole on suspension mount and removed odd rust and re sealed.

Reassembled and now fuel gauge not working- was working, computer checks display, all ok, power to rear all ok, so either pump unit or sender unit or both faulty

Does anyone know how to get hold off, or mend sender unit please??

    Many thanks

Oh dear that was a big old job and one I have to do on our V70R AWD soon, I'm not sure the sender unit is accessible once the rear end is all back together, I know the pumps are not accessible without dropping everything, locating the wiring and testing with a multimeter would be my next test, though you would need to add or remove some fuel to see if there were any changes in resistance, or it could be a job of dropping it all again to access the sender.

You said 'a garage' did the work.....Soooo, unfortunately for the garage, they're gonna have to disassemble the back end again and find out what they did wrong - then fix it. Just hand them the keys and explain it was working before they did all the work, so they need to put it right.
It's not your issue to fix, unless you want all the aggro and headache + expense trying to fix it?

My advise would be to allow the garage the chance to fix it. If you don't, it could cause you issues further down the line, especially if you have to start proceedings into suing a garage. Not that I'm suggesting you go down that route, I'm just explaining you need to cover your ass and not leave any doors open and a chance for the garage to bat off any legal proceedings that may follow as a result of them leaving you with a car that isn't working as it should be, especially as the gauge was working before they touched the car.

If you try to fix this yourself, you could be in for an expensive and time consuming headache and a car that is off the road for many weeks or months. Also, by trying to fix the problem yourself, you automatically dissolve any rectification involvement by the garage - even if you were to try and sue them! This, for sure, would make your case harder to win and the garage would be able to just walk away.
