    Reinforced pillers on Ex-police v70

I've just removed the front piller covers from my v70 170 to replace the drilled and scruffy ones on my ex police t5 all straightforward enough.
Until I removed the t5 ones only to find no retaining clips panel clips or inserts of any kind. But whats thrown me the most was discovering a 2-3 mm plate bolted to each piller. Anyone else come across this. Is it just a reinforcement or something else.

I'm assuming that a bandit Windscreen is multi layered laminated glass something between standard and bullet proof. So I've checked the thickness and it's around 5mm Bandit would be around 7-9 mm
Saying that I think you got it Harvey. Probably replaced with standard before decommissioning. Also someone has cut about a inch of the dash. I'm assuming this would be to make room. I was told it was previously a police training car which explained the condition of the rear seats. But thinking it probably had a more exciting life.

Maybe a previous firearms car then?

Have you searched the reg on google? There are a few UK Emergency vehicle websites that catalogue some of the fleet.

Yes bandit screen is In between standard & bulletproof around £1200 . It will stop most things that someone might throw at it.

Yep. A few came with reinforced windscreens.
They were stronger than the A-pillar in some situations and could come away from the vehicle. Hence the reinforcement.
