    ...... Still howls....

    However, hopefully solved the horrendous oil leak and the turbo no longer whines... 2 out of 3.

    Oh no!

    Like you say, leaky exhaust gaskets are sorted now and the turbo should last you a long time now.

    Back to the drawing board then....

    When I bought my S70 T5 it also had an engine rpm related howl which took ages to track down. It turned out to be the aux belt tensioner on my car. It spun ok but seemed very stiff to tension so I bought a new one and viola, no more howling. Like you, my first suspect was the turbo... May be wrong of course, but its a cheap part compared to what you've spent already - if you haven't already replaced it of course.

    Previously - '97 S70 T5 manual, '98 V70R AWD auto, '98 V70R Auto in Nautic Blue Mica with LPG (went to Germany!), 1996 850R Auto, lots of various 940s, 960s and a crappy 850 2.0

    Car still goes like a stabbed rat so I'm happy enough.......

    Perhaps the issue lies in the exhaust system....

    I think I will just have to except it.... That it howls like the Vulcan. Could be worse!
