2009 Volvo V50 1.6 What engine can I swap in?

    Hi all,

Seen this forum mentioned on the Volvo owners group on Facebook and decided to join up!

Looking to put a new engine in my V50, I was hoping to get a hold of a 2.4 T5, but have been informed it's too wide for the V50 engine bay when transverse.

Also been told that the Ford ST225 2.5 unit will fit straight in, hwoever will need the correct CEM, key and immobiliser module.

Just wondering if anyone has swapped out the engine in their V50, and of they did, what engine did they put in?

    Cheers
    Andy

It just wouldn't be an economical preposition, you would need to upgrade the suspension and brakes as well, I would expect that you could sell your car and buy a T5 for half the cost of doing an engine swap.
