Phase 1 volvo t4 turbo died

Hi guys...right noticed a bit of smoke from the exhaust today on my phase 1 t4...when I got home took pipes off to find sure enough oil in the turbo housing and a lot of play in the turbo shaft
Iv got a t3/t4 hybrid turbo sitting in my garage that I got cheap and had a local turbo place look at to make sure it's ok

Question is..could I use the hybrid turbo seen iv got it spare all I need to do is convert the manifold to t3 flange??

Iv also read many many mix reviews on mbc or adjusting actuator....any advise would be great

Since iv got to change turbos anyway I'm just after a bit more power
It's already got full system plus decat and filter and Its a second car

It's kinda pointless putting a bigger turbo on unless you can get it mapped to suit. From what I understand there aren't many options for mapping these either. A t3/4 is going to require a fair bit more fuel than your standard turbo.

    850 tdi - sorely missed.

Shame, these cars are getting rare, I regret getting rid of the wife's facelift V40 T4 auto.

Can't you just get your turbo rebuilt?
