    850 Mesh Grills

    Hello all,

Does anyone have a picture of the 850 with the black or chrome mesh grill fitted? Seen these on partsforvolvosonline.com and quite like the idea but want to make sure they don't look a bit too..........errrm.........rubbish.

    Cheers!

Thought about making the current grill black? We have this on my dads T5 if you want to come over and see it!

IMHO the mesh "sports" grilles look a little but most people will dissagree with me!

I agree they can look pants without the slash, but with the slash they look miles better than standard.

Personally speaking I think blacking out your current grille (see pics of my old 850) is the best mod. The "sports" version makes the grille look quite small and doesn't suit the front end.

I agree in general with the anti-mesh sentiments, but I actually rather like the look of IPD's mesh grille (it's about their only product I like on these cars). I'll dig up some pictures later of them.

but that looked a bit bare so I bought a slash for a new S40

But when she was sold I put an orignal grill back on. I am undecided.

Depends on the colour of the car too.

I messed about with mine on a photoshop type program first. Couldn't decide on this

    or this

went with the latter eventually. As wobbly says it depends on the colour, if yours is Met Purple, a purple frame with a Graphite or mat black middle might look nice.

Cheers for all the pictures and opinions, I remain undecided! My T5 is dark metallic purple with lower suspension and tinted windows (all factory Volvo extras I hasten to add!) so I thought the black mesh grill might add to the cars appearance but am unsure. I am leaning toward the method of using the original grill but blacking out the chrome surround and grill and leaving the Volvo slash. I think I might buy a standard grill off eBay and do that so I can always put the original back on if I don’t like it. With regards to the mesh grill £80 is a bit much to cough up for something that I’m not sure I’m going to like!

Moppy i think you're possibly the only girl in the country that likes Volvo estates.

I found it a real b!tch to get girls to overcome the "volvo estate old man" thing, but as soon as I got them inside the car all was fine and dandy!

I'm obviously one of the only ones with taste then!! The 850 estate is damn sexy!

I wont ask what you did to persuade them into your car LMSO!

What ever it was it obviously didn't pay off, he's gone out and bought a diesel! And then flogged his 850 to me!

Did our grill like the ones in the pics earlier this year, looks ok, and its the same colour as yours.

And Moppy isn't the only female to like Volvo's but she's right there isn't that many of us have good taste

i think were too late moppy..ive just seen a matt black nova, with a sticker saying work in progress on it...driven by kevin and perry...with the biggest exhaust ive seen this side of tokyo.
But i think they must have got both brain cells confused,as it wasnt the grill that was black,it was the entire car...words can not explain....@#$%%^
