    First tank of diesel!

Just drained my first full tank of diesel, the computer was reporting 20 miles remaining but this seemed to alternate from 35 to "---" constantly, so who knows!

Anyway, I covered 617.9 miles on the tank!

All journeys were < 10 miles, travelling into a city centre and back with the A/C constantly "on". (Never turn it off!).

    Not bad methinks!

That's excellent! But does it compensate for the lack of T5 POWER!!!!!? Is the fuel tank 72 litres?

Dunno, I only put in £15 rather than top it up as I'm going to France at the end of the week and I'll take advantage of cheap continental diesel over there!!

Fuel computer was reading 42.0 mpg, which I didn't think was too bad for the type of driving I was doing!!

Get it on the cruise and 60mph and it'll top 70 to the gallon average!

    I'm in love!

My parents have two 850 T5's and I've just sold an 850 T5 to my friend James (JimboT5).

I live at home, so we did have four Volvo's on the drive at one point!

    Why?

    Why?
Why the oil burner then and not a newer petrol version? Don't you miss the T5?

Darren originally owned my T5, and I was asking him if the extra fuel consumption was worth it, given the D5 is not as fast as the T5 (At least for the moment).

I thought about it long and hard, and I could have saved a fair whack by buying a T5 rather than D5 as the diesels hold their value better. I reckon buying a T5 of the same spec/mileage as my D5 would have saved me around £1000-£1500.

However, I love the way the D5 drives and love it's good economy, especially on a cruise of which I shall be doing a lot of through France. Considering diesel in france is 72-78p a litre it works out as quite a cost saving plan!

And I'm a tight fisted bar steward!

I think Adam was saying that a D5 can be just as fast as a T5
