    ABS TRACS Light on

    Hi

My ABS and TRACS warning lights have come on recently along with Service light that goes off after a short while, I have tried disconnecting battery but still on.

I also bought a cheap OBDII reader but it doesn't even work with my car.

Any ideas and is there a reliable OBDII reader out there for my 97 V70 T5

    Thanks in advance
    Rob

Chances are you have dry solder joints in the ABS ECU. Very common problem.
Wobbly Dave on here used to repair them for a nominal fee.

As for the reader, you'll find very little communicates with the pre ME7 cars as they're not really OBD II compliant despite having the right socket and saying so on the cover.

    Your best bet is VOL-FCR.
There's a free trial version available to download that will read most of the systems on the car, couple this with a VAGcom lead from eBay for a few quid and you're good to go.

You need Draper tool 69007 or similar to reset the service light, quite rare now.

I've pulled the ecu off the ABS pump, cut the lid off and ran the soldering iron over the main plug pins where they meet the circuit board, all good now.
