    8x18 trial fitnent

Tried out my 8x18 et 49 alloy at last. Fitted with a new 215 40 18. No rubbing on full lock and was fine fitted to the back too (removed the stud that sticks out!) 5 brownie points if you know what car the wheels were originally off!

    Nice, the wheels look good.
How did you increase the centre bore of the Jag alloys?

Just with a flap wheel. I use a 70mm one. It's slightly larger than the centre bore so it self centres and takes off an even amount. This method is perfect for getting v50 alloys on a v70

OK, that's interesting. Just assumed that anything that wasn't 'fixed' would mean the new centre would exactly be in the centre and potentially cause vibration.
    Nice one

I think the centre bore is just there to line things up when you put the wheel on. Lots of older cars (beetle Citroen etc) weren't hubcentruc and you just bolted the wheel onto a flat face. However if you do bore a wheel out and it's slightly off centre then of course it will be out of balance. I've done a set by hand before with a small flap wheel and I overbored the hole by about a mm to compensate for my eye being out! The tapered wheel bolts then lined it up perfectly. Had the car at we'll over 100 and no issues

    They look great on it!

My Jag wheels were a right nightmare to get on.

Did you have to use spacers?

Jag wheel et's are all over the place! I did a bit of digging around on the net and found the jag wheels I was looking at were an identical size as nebs and they fitted on 850's and v70's just fine as long as you had 215 40's.

I see you have Aruba alloys. Guessing they are the 7.5x18 and et52.5 ones? I had medusas on my previous v70 and they bolted straight on (they are the same size as arubas) after I enlarged the centre bore.

Yes, those are the ones Jon.

The large 52.5 offset meant that they wouldn't go on without spacers though, as they hitting the shocks.

    I'm running 15mm spacers.

Strange as my 52.5 medusas bolted straight on. Mind you I was using 215 35's. May as well have just painted the rims with some rubber sealent!
