    D5 power loss

Hi all, I have a 2007 S80 D5 185bhp with 88,000 miles on the clock, it just started losing power about a week ago, intermittently. I have changed the fuel filter with no difference. Turbo pipes seem okay, but found a plastic linkage disconnected front left side of engine , come from a stepper motor of some sort and goes to a link on the cylinder head. Reconnected it but doesn't seem to have made any immediate difference . Any thoughts or suggestions??

    Were gonna need more information.

    1. Manual or auto?
    2. Have you plugged in diagnostics and were there any fault codes, if so, what were they?
    3. A picture of the part that was disconnected may help!

Its an auto box, diagnostics didn't come up with any engine related codes? for some reason the site isn't letting me upload pictures. If I start the car and it has no power, just stopping for a few minutes and then starting again sometimes gets rid of it (sometimes not!) yesterday it was running perfect, stopped for literally a minute then when started again it was like in some sort of limp mode?

    What diagnostics you using?

If it's cheap, it won't always pick up fault codes. There will definitely be a code if it's loss of power and intermittent.

Sounds like you have a boost leak. First place I'd look is the IC. They commonly crack on the sides.

More like 300 inc vat from dealer.
You can get a Bosch sensor for much less on ebay. I bought one from Poland, boxed and sealed as new for around 89 delivered.

Cleaning the MAF with carb cleaner probably isn't the best idea tbh....many have done it for years without issues but you're best using electrical contact cleaner.

Good job on fixing your issue

Had my 2010 XC60 D5 manual for 4 years, now on 65K miles.
It's recently developed a flat spot when accelerating hard especially flooring it when overtaking.
Gets to between 2,200 -and 2,400 RPM (especially in higher gears when using turbo grunt to get past someone on dual carriageway) and then hits a flat spot.
It then stays at constant revs for a couple of seconds, then the acceleration picks up again.

Had hoped full service at Kastner Exeter yesterday would fix it (S/W update etc), but no change.

Anyone got any bright ideas please?
Yeah, other than welcome to VPCUK, don’t hijack other people’s threads!

Would be better to start your own

Good spot Lee, my mistake, apologies to Andycoop62, hadn't realised, not a good start.

Have now just started my own thread and deleted the message that was above here.
