    Engine mounts, talk to me!

So the 180k engine mounts have seen better days and I've been doing some investigating. However, whilst browsing i noticed various options like genuine volvo, lemsforder, febi bilstein and some random pfv stuff.

Whats the general consensus? Aftermarket stuff is as good or stick with genuine?

For reference a full set of genuine mounts will cost roughly what, £350? The febi ones look to cost £250 for all five, and I think the lemsforder are the same (i even think meyle are in the mix too).

Are there any other options? I was thinking of the poly trans mounts just because the oe one is so floppy, but leaving the top mount standard but upgrading to the newer square shape (d5 btw, trying to avoid removing my own fillings).

I look forward to hearing your feedback and comments

    Many thanks,

    Many thanks,
If your car is a D5 then you must stick with OE for the subframe engine mounts as they are vacuum controlled via a solenoid.
The solenoid cuts the supply of vacuum to the mounts when the engine revs are above 1250rpm, making them stiffer.

If I were you, I'd replace the Vacuum mounts as with 180k I bet the engine is sitting lower that it should be, probably by 20mm or more!

You need to be careful which bushes you replace on D5's. Start with the vacuum mounts and ensure that the system is functioning correctly, before you proceed to other bushes.

I'd also poly the transmission torque mount as these are common failure and weak point.

Some useful info for you to read..
