    Saaamon's 850 T5.. The story so far.

Thought i'd combine a couple of threads in to one "project" thread.

Bought two years ago after regretting selling my 850R 3 years previous. I haven't take many pictures but have a few.

Done a lot of service work on it when i first bought it, PCV, plugs vac lines, header tank, HT leads(in post) and loads of other bits etc.

As time went on i binned the roof bars, fitted an R bumper, spoiler, titans, KW's V70 lights and LHD headlights. Whilst busy driving lorries i forgot about the car, always kept it well serviced but having at most 45hours a week at home it took a backbench.

    Then came the floods.

Pulled the water out to make it useable and so we could go to the vpcuk rolling road day, the next day!

The flooding gave me the spur to start tidying the car up, the paint has never been great but the N/S is particularly so started off with fitting two doors, V70 tailgate and a rear bumper also sent the wheels off to be refurbished.

Haven't finished with the paint, will have the bonnet and roof done at some point but have a couple of trips lined up so won't be for a while. Been getting in to detailing again, been over the panels that haven't been painted with clay, G220 with G3 cutting compound followed by AG resin polish and meg wax for protection.

    To be continued...

Thank you! It was looking really tired at the rolling road day, I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, to be honest if it wasn't for AndyR's words of encouragement it probably would of been scrapped!

Thank you! It was either these or Volans but I think I made the right choice, I'm trying to keep the look period with a t5r with it being a 1994.

Thanks for all the positive comments, will try and update as and when I do more to it, next mods are 302s including new cailpers etc, remap with a check and set up so it runs exactly how it should then just sort out other bits like relay for the LED brake light need some trims for tailgate.. The list is endless!

    Looks great.
A few years ago, I had an almost identical looking 850T5. Same colour, R bumper and Titans!

Here, with water damage like that, an insurance company would have written the car off.

Blimmy you'd almost think it was the same car from that angle lol. If I'd have claimed they'd of almost certainly wrote it off as well, its a dashboard out job to change the carpet unless you cut it, the breakers I used were great though and waited till I was there to take the front sections out so I managed to cut it high up so you can't tell.

Handily I run a cleaning business so had all the tools to sort it quickly, did have a damp smell though for the couple of weeks it took to get a carpet.

we had a 9 month old v40 in our dealer once that the customer reported some electrical items. it smelt weird inside and when we looked on the warranty system it said warranty void due to flood damage insurance claim.
the customer genuinely didn't know - he had bought it as 'late reg' but we showed him the tide mark inside about 6 inches about the door step behind the plastics.
we reckoned it came from a dealer who had a storage compound next to the river severn we heard about - they bought 60 cars to pre reg to try and sell to meet target. they lucked out because a week after they put them there, the river flooded and all were written off!
so some unscruplious company obviously bought the car as insurance salvage from an auction, cleaned it very well inside and sold it as having a valid Volvo warranty!
