    940 cutting out

Got a problem with my 940, it's a b230fk with a 16/19 turbo. Issue is when your slowing down the revs start dieing and it cuts out unless you build the revs up, seems to do it mainly when it gets up to temperature or after you give it abit of stick then slow down. I've tryed a different icv (used but was good on my last 940 and was ultrasonic cleaned) but that doesn't mean it's still good? Anyone got any ideas? I'm really fed up with this thing now, I've done a lot of work on this car and it all seems to be for nothing

    Cheers guys

Had this on my 1991 Wentworth 940 2litre turbo.......it was quite dangerous sometimes coming up to a roundabout in the town to beat others around and it would cut right out in front of them.
I had no error codes at all and eventually i had a new engine put in at Taunton Volvo as the piston skirts are shorter on this model and the pistons slap i think they cured it by different pistons and the oil supply jets in the block for extra cooling on later models?

While getting this done i asked them to check the cutting out but when i picked it up it still did it and did it forever more, just had to be careful around minimum throttle not to suddenly get to idle mode but gently.

I'm looking for another 940 to break for the engine and box so I can take my current engine out and rip it apart

mate, its not likely to be a roblem in the engine - like the other poster said they had a new engine and made nota jot of difference. It will be a fuelling prolem - possibly and air leak. So get another car to break but swap over the hoses, throttle butterfly, sensors, EGR whatever but save the engine until AFTER you have fixed the problem.

9 times out of 10, poor idle/stalling when engine hot is normally down to contaminated throttle body. The build up of black carbon gets sticky when hot and causes a lack of air flow when off throttle, causing the engine to stall.

Just remove the induction hoses and degunge the throttle assy using proper throttle cleaner and a lint free cloth. It will make a huge difference!
It may also be worth removing and cleaning the MAP sensor, Boost pressure sensor and Air flow meter a clean too! All will make big differences to driveability, including better throttle response, better MPG, more boost and just nicer to drive, smoother.
