    VolvoT5 European Run

I'm thinking a VolvoT5.co.uk run to Europe sounds like a complete laugh, there have been various talks of such but nothing has really come of it! Any Volvo welcome!

There are various options avaliable for a European trip...

Please vote in the poll accordingly and state your personal preference!

Nuremburg sounds good, or pretty much anywhere in a convoy

A mate of mine has just come back from going round it in his S3, said it was a top weekend..

I was supposed to do Assen last year on my mates Busa, but it all went pearshaped at the last min...
    Thanks in Advance

No, don't go there if you want to drive the 'ring: it's at the opposite end of Germany Drove the 'ring in September; great fun, but not as exciting as a couple of laps with a mate in his 911 GT3. (He's done over 800 laps, so knows all the right lines).

    Hi TDS

Just an idea to guage opinion. If everyone decideds a jaunt to Monaco (or similar) is the way to go, then I'll go with the flow!

Some will prefer to do 200 miles @ 135mph, others will prefer to do 1000 miles @ 80mph ! Factor into that non T5's that'll be going (me, in a D5 which will be Stage-1 by then) and a few N/A's not everyone is going to be able to sustain a constistant 120mph + comfortably!

I do have a parachute too, and nobody gets left, we have guys in 25yr old escorts on our convoy, but we have a blast and a play with our German friends, and regroup.

I'm up for it and already planning a 10 country in 5 days trip. It aint easy without driving very long distances over very long times.

I can do most of it with 4 hours driving a day but 1 day will require and 8 hour drive or there abouts.

    Keep me in the loop

I'm quite happy to be ring leader or at least to help organise, but I need to know what people want first! TDS has already tried in vain to get people interested in the Nurburgring but no-one seems willing to commit!

As already said TDS has tried a few times to organise a road trip to the ring

A personally think that its trying to get a few ppl that can get the same time off (months in advance planning) and most ppl have families that probs dont wanna do on a road trip for a couple of days that will cost the same if not more than taking a family of 4 abroad for a fortnight

A would love a long run and do plan in driving to Spain to visit ma parents next year but I'll make a 2 week holiday out of it so the cost will balance out, well i'll tell myself that anyhoo

Basically for us North of the border would cost us a tank and a half each way to the ferry to Calais, Theres £150 before we even get to the continent

A cant see a lot of ppl commiting but good luck with it

What with my oil burner and your love of caravans we could organise a "Caravanners Club" trip to the New Forest.

Being serious for once I agree with everybody whose posted as we all know how difficult it is to get peeps to just turn up for a local meet. I was up for the NBR at Easter as it was a long W/E. But anywhere the other side will do, although Monaco’s a wee bit far for a W/E.

I would love to do a trip to the 'ring. BUT, as people have said, I would find it hard to commit to this expense, time away etc.

I also use a (new) Mini forum and the trend over there is for 'runs' rather than meets. As the name suggests they regularly do a lot of well organised, pre planned runs around various parts of the country with photo/food stops etc on route. Most are around the 1-2 hour mark so not too expensive and most people can slip away from their other halfs ok for a sunday afternoon etc I'm doing my first 'run' with them tonight - 40-50 Minis going for a 2 hour drive around London (City/West end etc), Oh - at midnight! Really looking forward to it!

All that said, of course if there is support for a euro trip then great (Mini boys and gals do them too!) but I reckon on a fairly small forum like this it may be more difficult for commitments!

Hoping i'm proved wrong , Rich
