    V70 headlight restoration

Hi guys , not been posted on here for ages but have popped in occasionally
I have just purchased my 3rd Volvo a 2005 v70 d5 , after my trusty old v70 t-5 was written off while parked outside my house by a refuse lorry :-(
loving my d5 only had it a week and love the fuel economy :-)
thd only thing that bothers me about it is that the headlight covers have gone a bit cloudy and I would like to restore them , I have been looking at the auto glym kits from Halfords , read some reviews and all look pretty positive just wandering if any of you guys have used this kit and was the results any good ???
Thanks for any help guys :-)

My friend uses wet sandpaper and hard cut e.g. 'scratch remover' type polishing compound to renew plastic type headlight lenses.
My advise would be to use 1500-2000-3000 wet sandpaper - obviously depends on the severity of the fade - and then machine polish with 3M (3M Perfect-it Fast Cut Plus Compound) or Farécla G3 scratch remover.

    to get the idea: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=372681

Think they only work with plastic lens, not glass.

Can't recall if my S60's headlight lens was glass or plastic, but assuming, the standard P2 S60/V70 headlights have plastic lenses. Correct?

If its glass, then do not even try to attempt the fix mentioned above.

Mine are definitely plastic covers , I've been looking at various kits and methods online last few days , but have found a guy locally that will come and restore your headlights at home the pair for £40 so have it booked this Friday ,thought by the time I buy a kit for £25-£30 and if i get it a bit wrong , so for a extra few quid get peace of mind of someone who knows what their doing .
    thanks guys for replies :-)

I smashed one of the headlights on my 2005 s60 once, and it was definitely plastic.

    What's standard??

I can tell you that a 'standard' V70R/S60R has glass lens, not plastic.

    What's standard? It's a good question

In this context, I was referring to the non Xenon headlight. I know the R has glass lens, but no idea if other Bi-Xenon headlights were fitted with glass or plastic lens.
Based on this seems there are Bi-Xenon's with plastic lens

What type of bulbs does it use? If it's not an R and it uses halogen bulbs, then they should be plastic.
As i said, i put my foot through one of mine.
