    RICA 280 Upgrade

I had the T5 upgraded today and it's made quite a difference! 5th feels like 4th and the numbers on the speedo really do rack up very quickly yet I still managed 30.7mpg on the trip home. I obviously wasn't trying hard enough!

I also had an ITG panel filter and an oil change for good measure. All in all, I'm a very happy bunny. Thanks to the VT boys, who didn't mind me fitting my new stereo whilst they were working on the car.

cool b As much as I want to keep the Gul stock, the accessability and cheapness of the Rica 280 is soo tempting! Haven't seen a bad word about the RICA remap yet!

Here's a heated discussion, which i think is useful for anyone considering chiptuning. It's not impartial though and isn't intended to peeve anyone on here (I have the Rica 280) but contains some valuable points of view. From some big players too. V useful IMHO, I wish I'd read it before deciding (wouldn't have changed my mind but would have been more aware) [link]

Personally I'm not really arsed about exact figures, all I can say is the car has more power and makes overtaking other traffic a whole lot easier!

It's quite good for answering the 'What an earth made you buy a Volvo?' question!

Just spent 20 mins reading through the linked thread. Amazing how one member and a quick stir from Don made VT jump through VERY politely worded hoops for 8 pages! Adam, you have the patience of a saint!

Oh, BTW, through a little common sense and a little advice, my 1/4 million mile T5 will not make 304bhp

think I WILL call in the 280 horse chip though

I agree!! And to tell the truth, the 280 upgrade is the one that we recommend to all potential 850 customers for the simple reason that if they opt for the 304 version they are a lot more likely to have to spend extra money on stuff to get it to produce that sort of power, and would probably frequently neccesitate a new turbo, whereas at least with the 280 upgrade you get something that will produce superb results in the majority of cases with little or no extra spending required.

    Adam.

ps. I did read through it again, and it does make for entertaining reading!!!

Now fit a strut brace and feel the "new" front end!

    Fun in the twisties!
We take the "be polite" rule very seriously!
