    Turbo cooling unit

    Hi,

    Have just acquired a white 480 turbo '92 in poor body state, been left off the road for 9 yrs and only done 65k. The auxiliary cooling unit doesn't appear to be operating. My other turbo auxiliary unit whines for a while, presumably pumping water around. Any ideas???

    Anyone have a spare one for sale? Is there a fuse to this unit or any other area where I need to look, before replacing it.

    I presume you mean a 400 series?

    Tbh, a lot of the auxiliary cooling pumps don't work.
    Probably a relay somewhere, or a fuse, or the pump itself.

    Not much use I know, but they manage fine without them anyway.
    Unless you're in the habit of driving them really hard then switching off immediately without letting it cool a little, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Thanks for that info. I didn't know whether it was a big problem or not. No, I don't drive it hard all the time and shut off. I always cool off for about 5 miles before turning off, after a long journey. If that is OK, then I can put it aside for another time.

    As Steve says it's an electric water pump fella, meant to run for a bit after the engine stops to help cool the turbo

    If it's noisy, the activation circuit should be OK though. If you can find one on a breaker apply 12v to it & see if it runs before buying

    //edit

    Mis-read that, check out the wiring diagrams on the 480 Club Europe page, those will help trace the fault
