    Door lock issue

    2007 V70 2.4D.

Lock the car from the remote and the passenger door locks then opens. All the others stay locked. After the alotted time the deadlocks kick in and it is locked.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Steve

Might be corrosion on the door switchpack connection. Everything on the door runs through it.

    Its a common problem.
I had this issue on my old S60 during winter time when the temperature was low. As the deadlock still works after 30 sec, I didn't do anything else just used some wd40 (based on another forum recommendation which seemed to cure the problem.
Closing the car with the key works too.

That worked. Sprayed the lock and the button with AC90. Locked and unlocked half a dozen times on the remote and all sorted.

A locksmith told me recently not to use WD40 on locks because it doesn't contain PTFE. Apparently, it will knacker the lock?

He told me to use GT85 as this is much better and does contain PTFE.

Did he mean the barrel or the lock mechanism itself, I can understand saying the barrel.

The problem with wd40 is that it generally blasts away all the old lubricant, grease or oil, but then evaporates away potentially leaving a dry joint. So can be initially very good at getting a stuck part moving but then once dry you're back in the same boat.

Products like GT penetrate, release the leave behind the PTFE residue which keep the parts sliding over each other. Also good for giving some additional protection to electrical connections. Plus, it smells amazing. Got some for my bike years ago & now lash it onto anything at the drop of a hat just to get a whiff of the aroma!

WD40 is great stuff, but has its limitations, as does the GT, but either will work well in a pinch.

I believe the issue lies with the micro-switch not the lock mechanism itself. Similar problem occurred with the Mini R50's trunk latch due to the bad seal design. Dust, mud etc got collected and as a result, the micro-was disabled temporary. I had to repeat the cleaning procedure every 7-8 mnth on the Mini. Used WD-40 without issues.
The 3 in One (brand) PTFE based product I've used with great success on roof window rails and door hinges.
