    Split liner

So the mint low miles s60r I bought recently I finally got around to having the waterpump done as I suspected it wasn't a split liner and there is a second way to have water pump issues, it's a crap pattern waterpump with small surface area and no shape to the blades, rather than just the plastic impeller.

Looks like s60r is fixed will know more when I take it for a drive properly, but 10 miles in traffic and booting it had no water usage and didn't over heat.

fans not cutting in also? Had temp gauge up halfway maybe a touch more and no fan.

Sonic fan runs pretty much all the time (not that it bothers me), ac needs a re gas, must get around to doing it.

Well that's a result! Is this the Magic blue one by the way ?

It's funny how people fit these pattern parts & don't realise what problems these parts end up causing!

Yep it's the magic blue with 76k miles, vgc and last owner replaced loads of stuff but gave up once he thought liner had gone. New driveshafts, timing belt, service, 4 x michelins, brand new angle gear and collar.

    He spent £3-4K

He had over heating which was traced to thermostat and had Halfords special waterpump and timing belt fitted, then it over heated and he was like "must have split a liner" and gave up.

I know madness, I know the new angle gear, collar, seals and fitting was £1700 iirc, but scrimping on a Halfords belt kit, the belt was good and so was the idlers, just a crappy pump. I still have to drive it properly yet to check but 30 mins idling and 12 miles in traffic and a bit of booting it and it was ok.
