So nothing really exciting has gone on, I had a new screen fitted as it had a couple of chips and it has been an advisory on the M.O.T for the last 6 years !
I have also had the wheel alignment checked & adjusted as it has been six years since that was last checked.
Yesterday I finally got round to changing the A.O.C oil & filter.

As you can see this was black too!
On the plus side I managed to get the filter out without removing the propshaft ? Obviously the Haldex unit is different to that on my 2003 "R"

    All removed & cleaned.

    New filter fitted.

It is now becoming obvious that there has been less maintenance carried out on this than I was told, also it looks like the prop is going to have to come off and be RE-greased & sealed! GRRR!

I'll be removing and regreasing my prop in the spring and using silkolene high melting point grease. The sticky red stuff!
Used it on my P1 R many moons ago and made a big difference.
Will replace all 12 bolts too.

Oh I almost forgot, when I first got the car it came up with an "ANTI SKID SERVICE REQUIRED" warning.
Fault code BCM-130 Brake pressure sender 1 signal too low.

Having tried several times to clear the fault I spoke with a specialist I know who advised me to recalibrate the BCM unit. And low & behold it worked!
Anyway that was 3 months ago, whilst on my journey to the alignment shop the fault returned!
So when I looked at the live data I was getting a massively different reading.

So I swapped the wires round & the reading moved round, thus pinpointing the fault to the sender itself!

I bought this about 3 months ago but never got round to fitting it.

If I remember rightly it was about £170! (Is there nothing for these cars that's not around £200!)
So it was a simple swap over job, I had an assistant add a little pressure to the brake pedal whilst I swapped them over, this meant I did not need to bleed the whole brake system.
    This is the offending culprit.

So once fitted & calibrated I checked the readings again.

So that was that, a reasonably productive weekend, I still have couple of jobs left, like fitting a phone kit, relocating the sensors back to the struts (currently under the bottom arms) & fitting the IPD boost gauge I got for the 2003 "R" earlier this year.

And lastly I gave it a quick polish & a coat of collinite 476's

Hopefully this will give the paint a little protection over the winter months.
I REALLY need to get the bonnet sorted as we have had some snow this week, which won't do the car any good with the two gaping holes there!

How was it replacing the filter? I also have the 2003 model and was told that you don't need to remove the propshaft. I'm waiting to get my ramps back so i can then replace filter and oil's.

Just to add there is a filter fitted to the electric oil pump pick up which should be cleaned, but you need to remove the prop shaft then the AOC input drive to remove the pump.

    http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...pling/1030872/

This is why they supply a nut with a new pump .

Yep pita to get to and I just changed mine, didn't clean it, iirc it's different slightly from the one that comes out.

I'm pretty certain (well I took the flange off of mine ) that there is in sufficient clearance so the filter won't come out with the prop flange in place. It was about 8 months ago when changed it on my 2003 car.
I had the prop & exhaust off as I was replacing the angle gear collar.

Funnily enough I was going to do a bit of a post/thread on that filter, as I've just replaced two of those pumps on two Range Rover Evoques last week (the Haldex unit looks identical to the facelift unit).

Once I'd figured out which way round it mounted it was pretty easy to install, they also supplied me with the correct amount of fixings! (Had issues with my last order!)

All in all took about 20 minutes.

If nothing else it's some where to mount my air fresheners : )

Another job that needed sorting was the airbox. The previous owner had affixed a six inch piece of ducting to the lower portion of the airbox and routed the other end to the side of the foglight behind the grill!
    This is the offending item:

    And an unbutchered airbox!

So why have I removed this performance mod, well where I live we get a lot of rain! So this is not really ideal. I guess if you were in a warmer climate or you only used your vehicle during the summer months I guess it would be fine, maybe ?
I believe there are a few vendors who sell such a kit. I honestly can't say that the car drives any worse for removing it.

There are a couple of jobs left to do, hopefully have those done in the next week or so, then I can make a start on my 2003 R!

My friend had similar fitted recently to his car as it air flow was causing an issue (p1 V70r) but mine ran 337 on STD Airbox with just Kn replacement filter.

Yes you don't really want water ingress if it's wet where you live. Where did you find Airbox? I'm guessing be more difficult to get them now.

MRG replaced mine without unbolting the prop and yes, they did fit the later modified version

Volvo call it a DEM pump. 'Differential Electronic Module' pump and they are £270 from Volvo! £90 cheaper than Skandix. Part# is 30783079.

You may as well have a main dealer do the job as you'll also need a litre of AOC oil £13 and the AOC filter £21. You'll also need the DEM pump software too.

So all the parts alone are £300 plus VAT.

    Why thank you sir.

Yes I am fortunate enough to have access to a vehicle lift, the majority of the jobs I don't think I would be able to do (well, I don't think I'd even attempt on the ground due to arthritis & general wear & tear) so this does make life easier. I can honestly say that is the only bonus to being a grease monkey these days

I don't envy a lot of you guys working on the roadside doing repairs, been there myself many moons ago, was not fun! But you've got to do what you've got to do or what your budget dictates, kudos to you guys

    So,

It's been a while since I've posted on here due to other commitments & the hassles of life.
However I have done a couple of things with the car since the winter.

So this turned up the other week.
