    850 T-5R 5.5k rpm rev limiter?

Sorry for the questions but i was just wondering what the rev limit is set at? Iv searched but cant find anything in google.

Im not one for bouncing off limiters, but on a drive out last night i thought id try revving it out right up to the limiter.

I was in 2nd gear and it cut in at 5.5k rpm. Is this right? Seems a touch low to me but i dont know!

    Cheers

You have a problem there, are you sure it was rev limiter and not spark blow out? I think rev limit is around 7.5k rpm

No, bone stock apart from a 16t turbo as far as im aware. What could be the likely cause?

Stock boost should be around 11 psi? Do you know what the boost gauge was doing at the time of the 'limiter' coming in...the gauges aren't very accurate but might help with diagnosis

Right, its deffinately 5.5k rpm limit, neutral or in gear.

It deffinately sounds like rev limiter and the boost just drops off slightly when you hit the limiter stood or driving.

On my private road when it hits the limiter in 3rd thats approx 90mph - 95mph, how does that compare to others? It sounds fit as a fiddle so im thinking the taco is out to what the engine is actually doing? Possible?

Things iv found out, the car wheel spins whether the tracs button is on or not so im guessing that doesnt work and also the cruise control doesnt work so is it possible fuses could have something to do with this? Holding it back maybe?

red line in third on mine is just shy of 100 mph as that's usually the speed and gear I cross the line on the quarter mile.

You can calculate engine speed back from road speed and gear ratio. If you post your tyre size up I can do it later when not on my phone (& pissed). Is the ABS ok - light on then off after ignition?

So could be the taco! It was a blur cos my private road wasnt as long as i thought!

Yeah abs light comes on and goes off after ignition!

Its running 205 45 17 tyres, standard size as far as im aware!

With that wheel & tyre size, 3rd gear being 1.19:1 and final drive of 4:1...

    *5500 rpm is 83 mph
    *6500 rpm is 98 mph

So if the speedo is 8-10% out then 83 mph road speed equals about 90 mph on the dash. Speedo can be checked with GPS/sat nav

As far as I remember the rev limit on both my T-5r's is 6500, but these can vary a bit dependant on the map being run, as I lost a 1/4 mile race against Frankie when we swapped ecu's to compare our cars and his limit unknown to me was approximately 250 rpm lower than what I was used to with my HLM304, thus I hit the limit before I expected to change up, I fluffed the gear change and just lost the race by a few metres.

as standard I would expect it to go half as far again..ie 3/4 of the way across the white section. my last one was going to the 3'o clock position and now is in the garage feeling poorly.........tap tap tap.....oops!

It's limiting the boost. Either you have a boost leak, incorrectly routed pipework, a dodgy actuator or TCV. Or all of the above.

If you haven't already changed all the boost hoses then that be a good start.

Tingy on T5D5 had Lee's old car, it's looked after by Tim Williams. He's strapped a bloody great Garrett turbo in it now, so it's fair today they've got over whatever boost issues it may have had previously

Right ok, well when its on boost it sounds like theres a hissing noise but not a high pitch screetch like normal boost leaks.

If i stick my head down the back of the engine and rev it a bit you can smell exhaust fumes like theres a leak before the cat!
