    Bonnet release cable

So, sod's law dictates that now the S70 has a tiny water leak from somewhere, the warning light's come on and now my bonnet release cable seems to have given up the ghost.

Anyone have any pearls of wisdom to help me get it open, so I can at least give it a drink??

Really don't need this at the moment.

I've changed my bonnet release cables which wasn't too hard, but I heard that you have to go in from underneath and reach up to the latches if you can't release the bonnet. Thin arms are required I believe.............

Mr Sideways, do you know if the cable has detached or just catches won't release...maybe try pushing bonnet back down again after pulling lever or a beautiful assistant to press down on the bonnet while you pull the lever

    That's a negative, Mr 12345.

Cable hasn't snapped, still attatched to handle, but handle jerked forward and remains.

No amount of pulling the cable does anything, but it is still attatched to something.
Bonnet isn't under much tension either.

Thinking it's come unclipped and the sleeve has slid down.

That's exactly how I got my bonnet open yesterday (battery died and door lock doesn't work).

Pulled out the side light and pulled the bottom of the bonnet catch open with some wire coathanger. It did help thatI have the other 850 to see where I was I needed to go

Yeah, no such luxury for me!
(Only because I didn't think of that... The C70 was on the drive, ffs!)

Fumbling around in the dark through that tiny gap... My hands are cut to shreads now!

Don't know why I bothered now, thinking about it.
My dad's 960 is going in for some paint tomorrow, so he's borrowing the S70.
Anyone who knows his record will know that it won't come back the same shape as it left.

Will the 960 be getting a bit of Teflon clear coat to help you old man just "slide" off those irritating pieces of road furniture that keep jumping out at him? Might save you a fortune in bodyshop bills

Be better caking the car in CV grease tbh, Morgan.
I swear to god, if he does anything to the S70 I'm gonna take his license off him.

To be fair, this time someone hit him and is paying for it.
As for the S80 that he ruined, that's a whole other story.
    Short version:
Decided to move it on as it was uneconomical to repair.
3 winning ebay bidders didn't turn up, cost me £80 in fees for a £160 sale.
    Eventually sold to a scouser.
I'm now being done for an untaxed car on the road and dangerous driving as the DVLA claim they haven't received the logbook.
    Great.
