    Boosting problems

    A up 👍🏻
    I have a problem with my 04 v70 t5
There was a small problem under boost before I had it mapped now it's a massive problem It started off jerking like mad at about 2.500 rpm, it would push through it but then turbo would stop about 10psi ? . I've changed fuel filter, plugs (twice) changed Tcv for an up rated one, checked for air leaks, checked coil packs. I have checked maf but with another used one so maybe both defective. Now the problem is not as bad and comes in around 3.500 rpm and boost gauge gets to 8 and then flickers between 7-9. I've taken the car to see everyone and no joy. It has the same map on as another v70 I know and his is fine.
Hopefully someone on here know what's up, fingers crossed
    Thanks
    Ian

Your best bet is to take it to either a dealer or a specialist and get the codes read which should point you straight away to where the problem(s) is.

It is always best to make sure that a car is running properly before you get software changes. Might also be wise to remove the aftermarket TCV as they are a waste of money and are never, ever better than a new standard Pierburg valve, any good quality aftermarket software will have been written to work with a standard valve.

Depending on just where you are someone might well suggest a good local specialist.

If you have the codes read at a volvo dealership, tell them not to upload any software updates as it'll wipe your map.

Sounds like you've got a boost leak to me.

If your car is that bad, it will leak like a sieve on a smoke leak tester!

As Don said, take off the aftermarket TCV and buy a new OE one. Would really love to know how you checked the coils as they only really cause poor idle or ignition issues under load!

One more thing....(echoing what Don said really )...You should get your car to 'stage 0' first before you do anything else, otherwise you're forever going to be chasing your tail.
Just Google Volvo stage 0 tuning...read, digest and then do it to your car. Otherwise, to put it bluntly, you're wasting everyone's time, including your own

You can't remap any other module as such and since the boost leak relates to the ecm....

I had to get a software update for the new fuel filter on the xc90 but couldn't chance because of the map.
