New front Disks needed for the R

Just a quick one chaps, I have managed to warp my front disks with my over exuberant driving. Replacing front disks, thought I would put red stuff pads on, braided lines and so ideal time to replace the fluid. So what fluid should I get and how much do I need for a full drain fill and bleed?
Why am I changing pads, never really took to the brembo versions that are on it and thought I would try Red Stuff (EBC) as had on two other cars previously and thought they were good.
Why the braided brake lines, would just like a firmer pedal.
Any help appreciated. The picture posted were fitted last Nov/Dec.

I use DOT 5.1 in ours, as the boiling point is higher. No idea how much it takes though.

Got a litre of this Castrol Dot 4 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/perfor...-brake-fluid-2
Just ordered this lot from Demon Tweeks, wasn't in mood for hunt for best prices. Can't imagine I would have saved much.

I'm not a fan of the noise from the grooves, but the cars I've had with them seemed to bite a bit harder braking

I tend to use gen pads and discs but I think both xc90 and v70r are on gen pads and pagid discs currently and haven't noticed a difference.

Had grooves before, think they help to slow glazing of the pads when they get hot. Mine get hot a lot!

I saw them discs on eBay, the other day. They look quite good, not sure about the mintex pads.

    Those discs do look nice.

I've never got on with any EBC pads on my Volvos. Greens came with 850 AP kits originally, fine on a light weight Saxo but not good on a battleship. I found reds no better than cheap aftermarket stock pads. Yellows were terrifyingly inconsistent, one minute good bite the next nothing.

As for Dot 5.1 there really is no need when Dot 4 Motul RBF600 exceeds dot 5.1 standards.

I have rear R calipers on my 850. I've been pursuaded to go genuine discs as the construction of the disc, the internal cooling veins, are vastly superior to anything aftermarket and with discount work out cheaper than Pagid from ECP.

A 0.5L of fluid should be a enough for a quick bleed and replace. To be on the safe side I'd go for 1L.

    Just got 2 bottles (1L) of RBF600 off Ebay for £24.95 delivered. Seller is ' 2_wheels_warehouse_ltd '

    Totally agree!

I used EBC red's once on my old T5 and couldn't believe the amount of brake dust! It was insane. Braking wasn't any different from stock pads either.

I'm sure red's are meant for the track, but anyhow, I'd since heard lots of horror stories about EBC pads.....brake fade, excessive dust build up and many ppl reporting that they make a lot of noise.

As with any 'new' disc and pad, there's a running in period that must be adhered too.

Greg, are you sure your brake discs are warped, as the only way to tell if they are is by using a dial indicator to check 'lateral run out'? Who was it that told you your discs are warped?? (Please don't say bloke at Kwikfit )

Seeing as you only fitted genuine Brembo discs last November, I find it hard to believe that you've warped them, no matter how hard you drive!!? Fitting this latest reincarnation you've bought off eBay, could be a big mistake, I fear .

Have a read of this as I think you may be mistaken :........pay particular attention to para 4 but please read the entire script.

    Interesting read.
I am the son of a mechanic and brother of a mechanic, does not make me a mechanic though. But have had many cars over the years and can tell when the disks are warped, main rule of thumb for me is the kick back through brake pedal along with the obvious vibration upon braking. Anyway they were confirmed as goosed by my AA man friend (Bob) who changed it all over on Sat. I would have bought standard disks, but as I had holes in the rears though that would look odd. Now I am in the process of the gentle bedding in period, will advise how it goes. If I am truthful, I never liked the feel of the brembo pads so as I have had red stuff before on two cars thought I would drop them in. No notes on when the brake fluid was last changed, so thought I might as well do. All the gear was cheap as chips too, so no biggie if the brake performance no better. As long as the kick back on the brake pedal and the vibration has gone, which seems to be the case, but not pushed them yet.
Truth be told, I know I never bedded them in well enough the last time, will take more care this time.
