04 VR Geartronic question

I've asked the same over another forum, however no definitive answer received yet.
our "best friend " Google wasn't helpful either ...

So:
Does the 04-05, 5spd GT has some kind of upper rev limit?
Using it in GT mode, in 3rd gear it pulls strong up to 6100-6300 rpm without any issue and then it seems some kind of limiter kicks in. (I haven't tested, but assuming 4th & 5th gear's behavior would be the same).
Same time it allows to do red-line in 1st and 2nd, no problem.
Stock block, stock software, no modifications whatsoever.

With the engine warm the rev limiter will be the same in all gears. The higher the gear the slower the revs will rise as there is more drag.

Am I understanding this correctly? My car should be able to go above the 6100-6300 rev range in 3rd gear?
As said above, currently it 'stops' at this rev range and no matter how long I keep flooring the pedal, it does not go beyond this point.
