    K24 rebuilds

Ok quick question about rebuilding the k24, has anyone had a company done this, like full rebuild with shaft and did they have any problems with oil leaking after?

Shemtek quoted me £400 for a rebuild and I think that included a billet wheel aswel.

Well between you and me i would not get this done as yet because its his turbo rebuilder that has done mine and its leaking oil, they took it apart rebuilt it and its leaking again.

I have been but to be fair its not his fault and i dont blame him, im just alittle stuck as the rebuilder told me it was down to my car and must have a blockage somewhere to cause the leaking oil, but i have checked everything that i can and there is no blockage of any kind, just wanted to know if anyone else has had a k24 rebuilt that was fine then i might take it to that company, if not then i need a volvo technician to give my car the all clear that its not the cause of the leaking turbo.

The best companies to go to would be Owen Developments in Kingston Bagpuize or Turbo Technics in Northampton. Not cheap but the best by a country mile.

Also worth trying BTN Turbo in Uxbridge, they may surprise you with a good price for a new one.

Have you replaced the PCV system? Is the PCT nipple blocked? Is the Banjo union blocked under the Alternator?

There are many reasons why you are leaking oil but if any of the above are not clear then your car WILL leak oil where it shouldn't. Best you double check, cos otherwise a blocked breather system CAN cause the rear main seal to leak and that will cost you a new clutch and a 'split the gearbox' job!

Is the Turbo housing cracked? Maybe difficult to see until it gets hot!
Is the actual Turbo leaking or are you just getting symptoms from the exhaust?
Can you be more specific on where the oil is leaking from?

Ok pcv system was fully removed and cleaned out, the hole to the sump was clear anyway.
The turbo is leaking from the exhaust side of the centre, it leaks on idle, nothing from the exhaust.
