Also forgot to add. They did write my car off. Aparently theres 1200 pounds of damage to that wing i got for £40. Ridiculous. So it is now a cat c

I was more meaning I've never seen a garage so big since my old man was on the busses.
Nice neighbours you've got there.
I used to get much the same when I started my D24'd 960 on a cold morning when the exhaust had made a bid for freedom.
Old-skool turbo'd 2.4 straight-6 diesel, sounded like a dump truck when it coughed into life with just the DP attatched
I gave up trying to figure insurance companys out a long time ago.
I've seen them write off two year old cars with (apparently) only minor damage, but seen them repair older stuff that's wrecked.
££££££££s, the lot of them.
The bulk of the price there though is paying someone to use saffron paint.
Wouldn't have thought it's easy to match at all.
Oh. Yeah it was a comercial mot station. Now privately owned. Ita great. Mot only
No repairs.
I think it was my 325tds that tipped the edge around here aswell actually. That sounded like a turbo tractor haha.
The ibsurance wouldnt listen to me saying dont worry about the door as i was changing it anyway. They wanted to change wing. Repair door. Check a pillar. Check alignment. Plastic under sheet. And paintwork. Ridiculous.
They wouldnt let me help source parts either. So i got a payout and the car back for £40. So the car now owes me nothing. And i can now map it with a clear conscience
I take it you've overhauled the brakes then? By overhauled, I mean, Check their integrity and roadworthiness, especially as you're going to be making the car faster!
At the very least you should be checking that the disc runout is within spec with sufficient pad and definately change the brake fluid.
Braided hoses are a good option, but not necessary.

I have not done any of that. However i did put new discs on then took them back off because a) they were the smaller size and b) there was nothing wrong with what i had in the first place, the rears were the only cause for concern, and they have been changed.
There are no leaks through the braking system. No need to overhaul it really, although it could do with a fluid change, is it in the same reservoir as my 850 was with the clutch fluid? I think it is.
I had issues with that clogging up.
Yep, same reservoir, a worthy piece of maintenance that fluid change - Makes a huge difference to brake feel if the existing fluid is in bad shape...

Will add that to the list.
Just clued myself up on a bumper removal so i can have a go at the wing tonight. Looks fairly easy.
A few torx screws at the front of the wheel arch, then 2 14mm bolts from underneath. The bolts will be tight all the way down the thread, and are pretty long, so take your time, and work the bolts in and out as you untighten them.

Well done, colour looks OK in the picture.

It might look a bit better after a wash and polish. But I can see its a different shade. Not enough to bother me though, seeing as the doors will match the wing.
Door off.
No damage.
New door on.
I can def see the colour difference. But its still gold and its minimal.
Nice clean door with no rust.
Next to do is the drivers side
When I get a chance that is.
My buddy decided to take the engine out of his clio, and we hit a snag, and I stupidly offered him my car. So hes got it at the moment. I hope it comes back in once piece.
Advantage means I got to see it being driven. It does look good in motion
I sorted the door check strap on my 850, it's brilliant how easy the Volvo doors disconnect and come off (never done it with other makes so not sure if it's universally true)!
The colour difference is quite clear on the door picture.
Well it would have been alot easier if I had the correct E female torx whatever I needed for the door hinge. Had to take the door off without the hinges. But managed to do it all the same.
Ive never done a door before either, but I am told I had it easy on the volvo. No knocking out of pins or real alignment issues.
It may polish to a better colour. Its not had a deep clean yet. But I certainly see it.

Well thats what I had intended to do. But the doors didnt come with hinges anyway, so have had to put them on whilst im holding it up.
The loom came off alot easier then going on. That was a pain.

because BT had no electrics in the doors (or check straps) i left the torx screws out. It was fantastic to work on inside, lift the door off if its in the way lol
