So, some of you will know I've had an S80 T6 for a good few years, that my dad motored around in on the understanding that he looked after it, had it serviced etc. He didn't.
Some of you will also know that he has systematically destroyed it.
The final straw happened a month or so ago when he drove it into a wall and kiffed all along the N/S, so I took it off him. Something I should have done years ago to be honest.
Anyway, it's not been running right for a while and now it's on my drive, I started to do a bit of digging.
Stuck a compression tester on it yesterday, only a cheapo Clarke jobbie, and got between 95-102psi across all cylinders apart from #4 which was down to 30. (cold engine)
Stuck a teaspoon of oil down each cylinder in turn and managed a 5-10psi increase on all, but #4 shot up to 80psi. Still not enough, but that's a 50psi increase.
So, question is:
Do we reckon that points to bad rings?
Maybe a split liner? (Don't know how prone these are to splitting liners, but same bore I think as the 2.5s)
At first I thought maybe a burnt exhaust valve, he used crappy Asda unleaded, so could have ran lean, but not sure I'd get the increase then.
No signs of HGF, no oil in water/vice versa and no bad compression across pots.
Any thoughts, Fellas?
Such a shame, I really like this car. Shame my dad didn't think the same way.
Edit:...
Forgot:
Plugs as removed.
1-6 left to right.
No oil contamination, but maybe thinking 3&4 look a little burnt?
No idea how long they've been in there.
