    Getting stitched up!

My estate is dead waiting for a spark plug hole to be threaded, but the guy who does it is away on hols so.... The cars sat outside my lodgings for a few weeks.

I keep getting angry texts from neighbours CLAIMING my alarm keeps triggering keeping them awake, but strangely it never does this when im around to 'witness this' ( suspiciously i,m like a scapegoat i reckon) i think its neighbours whinging so ill move the car, but i cant get it to my storage yard ( about 3 miles)

I have checked the car and see no evidence of a trigger is there a way to disable it? I know there is the 'dog in the car' option but what about a total disable?

Getting a bit miffed at all the fingers pointed at MY VOLVO when i believe its another car nearby!

All i can do is TRY to potter along on 4 cylinders the 3 miles to get it off the road, but is that possible as the computer will see the missing plug as a fault surely?

Or if anyone has a spec lift tow truck handy to lift the front wheels? .......id gladly buy them a beer or two

Pull fuse no 38. Or set the alarm using the ferry mode, it disables the interior sensors and the motion sensor. On a V70 its the little alarm button above the pen holder, on a C70 you hold the central door lock switch on the drivers door switch pad down , it locks then unlocks the doors, get out and set the alarm as usual.

Fuse 38 is in the board at the end of the dash - open the driver door and remove the cover.
Alternatively, lock the car with the key, not the remote fob. This'll lock the car but not activate the alarm.

On the S60 I've locked the car with the fob, unlocked the boot only (again with the fob), disconnected the battery then shut the boot

Think this means the car is locked without the alarm....to gain access later I used the key hole under the plastic flap on the boot near the number plate lights - not sure if V70 has one!!

FFS that's not a good idea. Maybe access in the event of a dead/disconnected battery is meant to be via drivers door key hole then climbing into the boot...removing the fuse starting to sound better..

Need to be careful doing all this - if someone's alarm has been going off for a couple of nights, the local Plod will have the place staked out ready to pounce on the moonlit man stuck halfway through the split-fold rear seats

The lack of a manual boot lock is a real pain in the ass withe p2 v70 I had the battery out for an overnight charge the other week and basically had to leave the car unlocked overnight, I guess it wasn't going anywhere without a battery anyway but it doesn't seem a very clever design " improvement" .
