    Foam inside air box

Whilst changing my air filter on my 60 d5 is it worth pulling out and ditching or is it a potential oil trap or secondry filtration device.

I believe it's to keep the noise down.

Ok thanks mate so if it was to come out is get a lot of induction noise, and no harm it collects a lot of dirt under there. Is it worth taking out.

My mate removed the foam on his t4 and, with a panel filter, the noise difference was hardly noticeable.

The turbo needs to be running decent psi to get some proper noise. What boost does your d5 run at?

Standard boost as far as I know Liam only mod is the polestar remap. And soon to be rear brake adjuster lol. It's standard apart from that though. What ever the 60 d5 runs at, I want to get myself a decent back box for it those d5's sound lovely, I don't think I want my boost turned up she goes like the clappers as it is lmao.

I didn't know it was remapped Kieran , nice one , they are nice solid big buggers but they can still show a clean pair of heels to most things on the road , and nobody expects it either.

Orca it's as slow as anything in 1st but midrange it just pulls and wants to head into the redline lol, I saw a BMW 3 series off up marldon hill left him for dead hahahahha. Certainly lots of fun I'm getting hooked on performance volvo's I must say. I love the shark look it has. Dateless styling. Yes polestar remap nice blue badge and certificate to go with it.

Hey the coppers are going to think you nicked that Kieran , I hope the windows are blacked out. It looks great, I saw one booting it on the M8 the other day, they are big muscle car looking things when they are going fast. Happy daze mate , I assume you are hanging on to the 40 as well.

I have been up to my tats in work for the last two weeks and hadnt driven the T5 at all , its a real culture shock when you jump back into it after plodding about in a Renault Master van, lol. I had forgotten just how much fun it is to drive.

Lol my 40 is fun to drive but nowhere near as powerful. I used to love jumping out of the transit and into a car afterwards seems like you are driving a go kart. Hahaha I know what you mean

The 40 is a good looking motor mate , you have it looking really sharp, but that 60 is going to be a lot more comfortable on the motorways. You have to test drive a T5 , you will sell your left leg to have one . Lol . So make sure its an auto.

Well, the remap would have upped the boost but as i have no idea what turbo it uses or the boost it runs at, i can't really say. I doubt it would make much noise though, you need a cone filter for some noise really.

What i would say is that it's not gonna cause any problems if you do get rid of the foam so if you do want some noise, you could give it a go and find out. Fitting a panel filter at the same time could help give a slight increase in noise over the standard filter.

With a remap, I'd expect to see 200+ bhp and 500 n/m from a remapped D5 180. Standard boost is something silly like 27-30psi. That's why the intercooler goes pop sometimes.
