    95 850 T5 saloon rear springs

Looking for some suggestions please lads.

850 went in for an MOT today and my garage advised rear springs. The previous owner must have put lowering springs on with standard shocks but all I know is that they are red, we can't see any other marking to suggest a brand.! Iv had a quick search and most of the options are 40mm drop. Presently the car sits really nice and level with the tyre just flush with the top of the arch both front and rear so I'd like to swap them like for like.

I don't want to get a full suspension kit as the intention is to keep the car the way it is. Standard.... Ish! And I'm getting a garage conversion soon so unfortunately I'll probably need to think about selling this summer.

Long winded way of asking but can anyone recommend a set of rear lowering springs that don't burst the bank and that work well with standard shocks.

I'll try attach a pic so you can see how the tyre sits and whether you guys think it's lowered 30 or 40mm

That looks about right for a 30-40mm drop, I think you could get the Lesjofar lowering springs for under £100 all round from PFV?

    I'll go find the link.

    Great stuff thanks mate.

Iv don't know whether my 850 will have nivomats on the rear. Do you know if they are commonly used on 95 850 saloons or is it just the estatet that they're used on?

I'll ask the garage to check anyway. Thanks again for the link. Garage has quoted me around £100 labour. A that reasonable for replacing 4 springs in your opinion?

    Cheers

Yep - Reasonable if it's for all four corners, back springs are really easy and could be done in 20 mins, but fronts need the struts removed and £100 including them is fair.

It's easy to check for Nivomats, get down low in the back or wheelarch and compare to online pics. Mine is a 96 GLT T5 and it never had them.

About 1.5-2h for all four corners (when my mate changed mine plus shocks at a leisurely pace).

Yea he says they look like standard shocks and are in good condition so I'll just get the springs and replace all 4 corners. Cheers again for the link. Im happy it was just a minor fix with no other advisories on the MOT. Not bad for a 20 year old car!

Quick update on the 850 springs. Good shout KMB. The car sits really nice like before but just a little stiffer and more rigid round the bends while maintaining the comfort for cruising. Other than that the car flew through an MOT with no advisories! I'm going to be gutted when it comes to selling it. Thanks again. Cam
