My new C70 2.4T GT Cabriolet

Well I picked this up on Saturday morning,

Generally its very tidy for a 12 year old car that's had 3 previous owners, has a strut brace already fitted. Its just had brand new discs and pads all round for MOT when I collected it.
There are a few little bits to sort out, like drivers wing mirror has wrong glass in it, passenger wing mirror seems to vibrate a bit so I think it needs tightening up, its had an aftermarket stereo put in dash and dash top speaker not working and finally there area few bits of paintwork that need addressing.

This will be my summer runabout whilst I decide on the best course of action for the explod.

Very nice, I like the colour combo.

The centre speaker won't work due to the head unit change. That speaker plugs directly into the SC901 stereo it would have originally had.

Is it possible to wire it in? Not entirely sure if the subs are working either there is power to switch in rear but didn't hear them on either setting

I'm sure there probably is but electrics are not my strong point. Pull out the stereo and there will be a small green rectangle plug loose somewhere, that's the centre speaker.

Interested in this, they don't seem to do anything on mine either.

Lovely looking C70 though, love that blue.

Seems to be an abundance of them on here now

It was seeing yours on here Steve that inspired me to get one for the summer.

LOL no in fairness we've talked about getting one for a while but after reading your thread, coupled with explod playing up in decided to bite the bullet. I was looking at t5 but after reading your thread decided to include 2.4t in my search. T5s seem to sell before I got to see them.

Sun shone today so I got my ragtop down and really enjoyed the open top motoring in spite of the skuttle shake. I hope to get my spring clean on with it this Sunday. Great car and with the zippier 2.4 engine - all will be well.

Well I did my first mod to the car over the weekend, as 2 days after I bought the car DVLA emailed me to say they were releasing a number of P registrations, so I got straight on line for the release time and picked up a bargain private plate, I fitted these over the weekend as the paperwork came back on Saturday morning.

I did also try fitting the 19" peg reps, after Doingitsideways post the other day I thought I would start with a front corner, well the wheel fits but the tire just rubs the strut body so I guess I need some spacers to get them to fit, to give enough clearance, Here is a quick teaser as to what it will look like as I did take a photo with the wheel in place and they should look good on the car once I get the spacers. (any one fitted spacers on a C70? to give me an idea of what size spacers I can fit as I want to fill out the arches but don't want to introduce any rubbing)

Well I finally got the 19" pegs all fitted, very pleased with the result, I think they suit the car well.

Only problem I have now is I need to paint the callipers as they spoil the overall appearance with them being quite visible now.

I did pick up a tip from my dad which he had got from a BMW cabriolet forum that I put to use over the weekend, my car was squeaking and creaking from the back end when ever I got scuttle shake, the tip was to clean all seals around windows and seal on tonneau with a silicone based cleaner which I did using auto glims bumper and trim cleaner, brought a nice new appearance to all the trim and seals and seems to have eliminated all the squeaks and creaking when driving along, car is very quiet now

    Looks good, Fella

What size spacers did you use in the end?

I didn't use any spacers in end, I found that just by chance the rim I had tried had a bit of a buckle hence why it had quite a lot of weights on, all other hardly have any weights, so when I tried them on front they cleared perfectly, so I put the buckled one on rear so no clearance issues.

I have decided will run them through summer then get them refurbed over winter and have buckle removed.

I did think ride might be a bit hard but in actual fact its not made much difference, mind you I will see how I feel about that on Thursday as tomorrow I'm working just outside Hastings so have a good run form York to Hastings and Back over next 2 days.
