    Lol.
Need it running at least half right though.
2400 miles is an awfully long way to be driving with at least one cylinder down!

Like I said to you when we spoke, would be great if you could do it too.
Takes a certain amount of insanity to do it

I'd love to do it, sounds great, but likely to be at graft here or some other ££££e hole

    I'm not that cruel.

Besides, he'd have to do something pretty spectacular to hit a gatepost with the roof!

Suitable punishment if you ask me - damage a Volvo, get lumped with a BMini!

So, had a bit of time poking around with this bag-o-££££ today.

As it was running on 5 cylinders (yes they did make whiteblocks with more than 5 folks) I treated it to a set of ECP's finest NGKs at a whopping £2 each.
    Result: 6 cylinders!
On removal, one plug had a split insulator, so most likely that was the problem.

Also fitted one of their cheap and cheerful thermostats as I'd noticed the temperature drop when on the motorway, £4.
Result: Still the same. Bloody hell. Could have bought me a pint that.

As I was (half) on a roll, I thought I'd give the suspension a good coat of swearing and arse sratching.
It was without doubt the worst sounding suspension I've ever heard. Seriously, Ive driven a Corsa with wishbone bushes made of silicone sealant that sounded better!
Found the front wishbone bushes a little tired, but not too bad (happen to have a pair that came with the car) but thought they wouldn't make that much noise.

Moved on, found a front droplink ever so slightly loose, tightened it up.

Had a look at the back end, which filled me with dread tbh as the IRS on these is the most needlessly overengineered setup with exactly 6 million bushes that are NLA, but it all felt tight as a drum.
Just about to put the wheels back on and I noticed the smallest bit of shiny metal under a shocker mounting bolt, "must be loose to cause that" was my thinking, stuck a ratchet on it and it tightened up half a turn.

Dropped it back on it's wheels and drove around the block...
    Absolute silence.
    Proper job!

So, engine running like a sewing machine and whisper quiet suspension, grand total of £16 spent.

I'll change the wishbone bushes when I'm at my mate's garage and can use his press.

Next up, I'll probably change the ATF as it's very burnt and you can smell it when giving it the beans.

    So, yeah.
Spent much of the afternoon hooning it around a local industrial estate, (private, obviously) living up to my username.
    I've missed RWD

Just to continue the cost saving, piece of cardboard down the front of your rad will fix the temperature drop

Ah, but that would necessitate buying some corn flakes
