    V70r aka Darth Vadar

    Hi People

I thought I'd start a Project thread, its not going to be the quickest project as between the new house, 3 year old and 1year old my money seems to disappear pretty quick!! So the car is always the last to get money spent on it 😭😭

I got my 98 Black V70r for a steal, I swapped my 07 fiesta Zetec s for it and havent looked back since. 154k on the clock and 4 owners from new! Ive had the car about a month now and its in desperate need of a proper clean and polish but due to the weather I havent had the time!! Here it is when I first got it back to my work.

Ive got a list as long as my arm of bits to do..

Abs Tc fault-Looks like its already been resoldered
    Handbrake cables sticking
    Good clean, Polish & Clay
Front pads & discs -Brake judder
    Auto gearbox oil change
    Ptc Clean
    Parcel Shelf
    Wheel refurb

    And the fun bits are...

Bsr Air filter & Heat shield
Cat back-looking at a custom one
Coil overs- Not sure on brand yet
    New front lamps
    Silicone hoses
Front grill- Not sure on mesh or egg crate type
    colour coding

Thats just off the top of my head, im sure it will get bigger..

First things I done was debadge and dewiper the rear..

    Tinted the front fogs yellow...

Thought Id have a go at respraying the front grill and was pretty impressed with the outcome

Also got myself some Prancing Moose badges and smoked side repeaters... had abit of trouble with the side repeaters as they were so corroded they stopped working after I had changed them. Cleaned up the bulb holder and couple of new wires and they are working fine now. I also fitted some chrome Indicator bulbs.V7pV70r

I did remove the R badges as they were in poor condition so I'll get some new ones when I can find some

Ordered some cheap silicone turbo hoses off the bay that Im pretty impressed with, £46 and they are not too bad...

And thats it so far thanks for looking

    C&C welcome

Hi all bit of an update...

Noticed the exhaust from the centre back is on its last legs (not bad considering its the original) so just waiting for Don from Kalmar Union to get some ferritas instock. While i was waiting ordered myself a BSR Optiflow with heat shield and won myself a cheap double dine off ebay!

The cheap silicone hoses still going strong, I want to get the Do88 Rip kit at some point so will obviously replace the cheap ones then. Has anyone got any experience with the Do88 kit?

Had an attempt at making a Lego battery cover but have given up for now as the Intake pipe is in the way

And finally gave it a wash, but now realised it could do with a good polish and clay as its looking abit tierd in person!

    Thanks

This week the R got a new cat back, after pestering Don for the last month about Ferrita exhausts he told me he had them in stock. So ordered it up and Don said he would ship overnight. Then about 3 hours later he delivers it to my work! Top Bloke and will deffo be ordering some more bits in the future from him! So 2 days in and I am over the moon with the ferrita already!!

Excuse the dirty workshop / car

    Thanks for looking

I had the original system on so needed to cut it off, or you would have to swing the rear axle down. But pretty standard exhaust swap!! Bit louder then the standard exhaust at idle, but when you give it some beans it roars!!

Looks cracking. You want to speak to Don about an mte map once you get a 3" dp.
    Totally transforms the car.
    I want another R badly.

Ferritta do one which is a lovely bit of kit as you will of seen with your cat back.
a Guy called Graeme Welch used to make them on here (you might see a gwe dp advertised from time to time) but I've heard conflicting reviews on the fit of the dp.
Don might be worth speaking to but I'm sure they were £600 last time I checked.
I had exactly the same on my V70r, the exhaust was awful so I changed it for a Jetex Duplex which highlighted how rotten my original was, within weeks it blew my cat & dp to bits. Absolute nightmare job on an awd. Never again!
Mine had 3" dp, sports cat 200 cel & the 2.5" system & with the map I managed 272bhp on white injectors which yours will already have. You don't say if its a manual or auto, if its man then you have an 18t turbo & should get a fair bit more power with a stage 2 map. Mine was a 16t which the t5's are fitted as standard (so are the auto R's).
    hope this helps.

Yeah mines an auto, Don did say the DPs are £600 but was wondering if theres any other types available, do you know if theres a decat pipe available? Was thinking intercooler next but now might be swaying towards the DP. Also is there much benefit to get a dump valve instead of the standard recirc valve

No mate you want to avoid dump valves, get yourself a re-circ blanking plate & a 10mm ratchet spanner with a pivoting head to fit the bugger. Its a bit awkward to get to but you will have glorious wastegate chatter. If you do want a dump valve for the pitissssh then you need a forge twin piston but I'd do the plate first & see what you think. They are about £15 off fleabay.
You will need to go custom on the de-cat, I don't know of any off the shelf but again that should be cheap ( I've paid £60 for previous cars). Someone may correct me on that.
The intercooler will be fine (if its not split) for up to 300bhp but you will probably need a manual conversion before then as the auto boxes aren't a fan of serious horses.

Yes dp, decat & a map should get you nearer but for 300 you'll need a bigger turbo, injectors & the jedi force.

Use Volvo bump stops & strut tops & they will be fine.
