    '04 plate 5spd auto

So, I've just bought Wifey a C70 ragtop.

    It's an '04 2.4t with the 5spd auto.

It's done 91k and will look at changing the fluid as a matter of course, don't know if they're a sealed for life thing, or is it easy enough?

I'm toying with having it remapped at some point, but don't know much about the 5spd auto 'box and it's limits.
Standard it produces 195bhp I think, mapped will make 235 and 380nm.

Like I say, I don't know how strong these are, but my old 4spd in the S70 takes the punishment of launching high on 300bhp up the 1/4 mile.

    Cheers.

Its interesting that you prefer the 5spd to the old 4spds, because i'm the other way around. When it comes to normal driving then fast driving, the 5spd seems a bit dumb. I much preferred having a sports button as it would instantly alter the way the box changes gear.

Although saying that, the 4spd gears would be far to long for my puny engine.

On the strength of the box, it seems the earliest years were the weakest, 2000>2003. They seemed to get better as the years went on.
I'd say, give it new fluid and as long as its not thrashed everywhere or powerstarted, it should be fine.

    Cheers Liam.

Never said anything about prefering it though.
Think I may have said in the other thread though that I like the gearing more.

I like the gruffness of the old 4spd and the fact that it takes anything I can throw at it, including full throttle power starts!

This one will be the missus' daily though so won't really be thrashed, they're FAR too wobbly for that!

Write up here mate about changing the ATF

Looking on the forums there is a bit of debate about fluid to use - some people say MUST use Volvo stuff, others say Mobil 3309 is OK

This makes 7 Volvos and the Capri.
I haven't got the money though, not now anyway!

I'm having a clear out, Biff.
    Even the Capri is going

The Capri is probably worth good money. I don't think you will regret losing a couple if the funds are spent on the remaining fleet.
Thanks for the kind offer mate, one dodgy Volvo is enough at the moment.
